Artistic Opportunities

Affiliate Artists

Affiliate Artists work on four or more projects across a given season. They are contracted show by show, but they work with us so often that they become instrumental to the artistic growth of the company. We give these people the title of Affiliate Artist because they’re practically part of the family. In 2011 our Affiliate Artists were Tony Brumpton (Sound Designer), Ben Hughes (Lighting Designer), Simone Romaniuk (Designer) and Phil Slade (Sound Designer). These four talented designers worked on four shows each in our 2011 season and contribute towards making each performance a rich and authentic experience in the theatre.

Associate Artists

Associate Artists are honorary advisor positions usually reserved for theatre professionals with considerable experience and a close connection with the Company.  These people act as a sounding board for the Artistic Director when it comes to artistic considerations. In 2011 our Associate Artists were Bille Brown, Jennifer Flowers, Andrea Moor, Kathryn Marquet, Suellen Maunder, Maxine Mellor, David Burton, Jason Klarwein, Matt Delbridge and Benjamin Schostakowski.

Currently Wesley Enoch is looking to appoint Associate Artists for 2012. Check our employment page for more information here.

Emerging Artists and Studio Artists

Emerging Artists are early career theatre professionals who we support through training, development and work opportunities. In 2011, we offered assistance to emerging director and writer Michelle Miall, who was invovled in a Creative Residency with us.  Michelle was also mentored by Artistic Director Wesley Enoch through a JUMP mentorship. Actor and theatre worker Paula Nazarski benefited from an Indigenous mentorship with the Company to acquire skills and experience in leading workshops with students and young people. Michelle and Paula are both also supported by the Australia Council. Further, the Company will collaborate with Brisbane-based independent company Polytoxic Dance Theatre to help them develop their exciting and distinctive performance work.
