Privacy

Queensland Theatre Company (“Company”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information obtained from and stored about its customers. Public sector organisations such as Queensland Theatre Company are required to comply with the Information Privacy Principles specified in the Privacy Act (C’th) 1988, in accordance with the Financial Administration and Audit Act (Qld) 1977 and Information Standard 42, Information Privacy, issued by the Queensland Government. The following is the Company’s Privacy Policy, which details how the Company collects, uses, stores and discloses information about customers.

How personal information is collected

Queensland Theatre Company collects personal information from customers in a variety of different ways depending on the type of contact that is made with the Company. The following are examples of how personal information about customers may be collected by the Company:

  1. The purchase of a Season Ticket
  2. The purchase of a single ticket to a production purchased through Queensland Theatre Company or QTIX, over the phone or on the website;
  3. The purchase of a single ticket to a production purchased at the QTIX Box Office;
  4. The organisation of a group booking purchased through Queensland Theatre Company or QTIX ;
  5. The organisation of a schools booking purchased through Queensland Theatre Company or QTIX ;
  6. Submitting an entry in a Company competition, such as the Young Playwrights Program;
  7. Making an individual donation to the Company;
  8. Registering for a Queensland Theatre Company event, such as Theatre Residency Week;
  9. Registering as a member of the Company’s e-marketing lists through the Company’s website.

Queensland Theatre Company may also collect personal information over the phone, in person or by electronic correspondence in order to undertake its regular artistic and administrative operations.

Why personal information is collected

Queensland Theatre Company collects personal information in order to service the needs of its customers. For example the Company needs to store personal information from customers which purchase a Season Ticket Package, so that the Company can notify customers of any changes in date or time of a performance. Personal information will also be used to mail details to customers about Company events, special offers or extra performances and for market research purposes.

Queensland Theatre Company may ask for specific health details from customers, if necessary, to enable us to attend to specific seating requirements or from individuals who are under the care of Queensland Theatre Company staff for emergency purposes. These details are kept secure at all times and any individual can refrain from providing these details to the Company or request access and/ or amendment of these records.

Disclosure of personal information

Queensland Theatre Company will not sell, lend, disclose, or give personal information of its customers to any external individuals or organisations without first obtaining the customer’s consent, unless a disclosure is required by law. The Company may however, contact the customer on behalf of other organisations to offer discount tickets or information regarding their products.
These organisations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Other Performing Arts Organisations;
  • Queensland Theatre Company Sponsors;
  • Government Departments.

Keeping personal information accurate

Queensland Theatre Company is committed to ensure that the personal information it collects and uses is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, the accuracy of this personal information to a large extent depends on the information provided by customers. The Company asks that all customers:

  • Advise if there are any errors in their personal information;
  • Advise of any changes in their personal details, such as address and phone number.

E-Mail and Website

Queensland Theatre Company retains the email addresses and details of people who elect to join the Company’s emailing list to receive regular updates on Company productions/events or to request information. These email addresses are stored in a secure area on the Company system and will not be used for any other purpose without consent.

Queensland Theatre Company’s website is a cookie-less site to the extent that no personal information is stored directly from the website within a cookie with the exception of the ASP.NET ticket purchase and Google Analytics cookies.

Queensland Theatre Company’s web site contains links to other sites. Queensland Theatre Company is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. The Company encourages users when they leave the site to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to the activities of Queensland Theatre Company.

Access and Further Information

The provision of all personal information is voluntary, but if that information is not provided Queensland Theatre Company may not be able to provide its customers with the products or services requested.

Employee Personal information

Queensland Theatre Company collects personal information about its employees in the course of its human resource management functions. Information about employee contact details, leave details and performance management is kept by the Company and updated on a regular basis. Access to employees’ personal information is restricted to the Executive Director, OHS chair, and finance staff as required.

Sponsors and corporate donations

Queensland Theatre Company keeps details of its sponsors for marketing purposes. The information is kept for a period of 5 years and access to the sponsor’s personal information is restricted to the Company’s development manager and finance staff.
Existing contracts, licences and outsourcing arrangements Queensland Theatre Company does not currently have any arrangements where it discloses personal information to third parties.

Queensland Theatre Company may obtain personal information through various ticketing agencies. The Company is not responsible for privacy compliance by such agencies, but strongly encourages such ticketing agencies to ensure that any personal information it obtains from these agencies meets the requirements of the IPP’s. Review procedure

If an individual believes that their personal information has not been dealt with in accordance with an Information Privacy Principle they may make a complaint to Queensland Theatre Company seeking an internal review. A request for an internal review must be made in writing and must be made within 6 months from the date when the breach was suspected to have occurred. Requests should be forwarded in writing to the Privacy Officer, Queensland Theatre Company, PO Box 3310, South Brisbane BC, 4101, or mail@qldtheatreco.com.au. Requests for review will be acknowledged in writing within 14 days from the date on which the application was received, and will be processed within 60 days from the date on which the application was received. Applicants will be advised in writing of the Company’s decision.

If an applicant does not agree with the Company’s decision they may request an internal review. The CEO of the Company will arrange for an internal review to be carried out by a more senior officer who has not previously been involved in the matter. The Company will provide a response in writing to the individual within 45 days. The CEO of the Company will provide a response in writing to the applicant.
