This one-week drama camp, in the September school holidays, is for students who love theatre.

Queensland Theatre Company has run Theatre Residency Week for 40 years. Over the years some amazing performers, directors and writers have participated in the program, including: Deborah Mailman, Geoffrey Rush and our very own Artistic Director, Wesley Enoch.

Workshops and activities include:

Acting
Audition techniques
Physical theatre
Theatre games and improvisation
Shakespeare
Clowning
Theatre excursions
A final performance night for family and friends

Suitable: for students in grades 9 – 1 2

Dates:  3.00pm Sunday 23 September to 9.00am Saturday 29 September 2012

Venue: St Margaret’s School, Ascot

Application Closing Date: Strictly Friday 22 June (last day of Term 2)

Cost: $595 (includes all meals, accommodation, workshops and theatre tickets)

All applications must be accompanied with a $100.00 minimum deposit. If you wish you can also make the full program payment of $595.00 with your application form. All applications received with a payment are guaranteed a position at the residency.

General Terms and Conditions

  1. Applicants not applying or not eligible for a scholarship must make a minimum deposit of $100 when they submit this form.
  2. Full fee is due by 27 July 2012.
  3. No refund will be given if you choose to withdraw your application after 27 July 2012.
  4. Places are strictly limited. Applicants will be accepted on a first in best dressed scenario.

Scholarships:

Queensland Theatre Company offers four scholarships to Theatre Residency Week

Artistic Director’s Indigenous Scholarship

Who:       Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student currently residing in Queensland
Details:   Covers the full program fee and all related travel costs.

Regional Program Scholarship

Who:     For a student in Year 12 who lives at least 200 km away from Brisbane
Details: Covers the full program fee and all related travel costs

Alan Edwards Scholarship

Who:     For a student in Year 12 who lives at least 200 km away from Brisbane
Details: Covers the full program fee.  

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  1. Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must submit in hard copy;
    • A statement about their creative interests, passions and goals (no longer than     400 words)
    • And at least one of the below
    • Footage of themselves performing
    • Footage of a work they have created/ directed
    • A piece of their own creative writing or analytical writing (must be theatre related)
  1. Supporting documents detailed above must be submitted by 22 June 2012. Late submissions cannot be accepted.  
  2. Supporting documents must be submitted in hard copy. Digital submissions will not be accepted. Supporting documents must be mailed to Julia-Rose Lewis, Youth Program Officer at Queensland Theatre Company.
  3. Successful scholarship recipients will be notified by phone no later than 16 July 2012. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email no later than 20 July 2012.
  4. Students who do not receive a scholarship but still wish to attend must make full payment by 27 July 2012.
  5. Places are strictly limited. Applicants will be accepted on a first in best dressed scenario.
