In a nutshell
Presented by the Young Artists’ Performance Ensemble in collaboration with Dead Puppet Society
Sometimes adults don’t know best and even someone very small and lonely can change the world.
Mary Lennox is a spoilt brat. Then her parents die. Unloved and unloving, orphan Mary is sent to the strange and foreboding Misselthwaite Tower. In this haunted, isolated place, surrounded only by desert, Mary draws away the veil on a lifetime of secrets. With the help of the only bird left in the world, and a dissatisfied ghost, she finds a secret garden beneath the desert cliffs. Set in a fantastical, dystopian realm, where the natural world has been destroyed, this brand new adaptation is an urgent call for environmental connection, action and protection, before it is too late.
Frances Hodgson Burnett’s timeless classic is given new meaning in this compelling reimagining by Kathryn Marquet, brought to life by Queensland Theatre’s Young Artists in collaboration with Dead Puppet Society.
